This year's 127th Detwiler Family Reunion was held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Camp Innabah, 712 Pughtown Road, Spring City, Chester County, PA  19475.  This year's theme was "Creative Crafts".

Next year's reunion will be held at Camp Innabah on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

8/20/2011 - Forty descendents of Henry and Catherine Detwiler held their 115th Annual Reunion at Camp Innabah, Pughtown, PA. The focus for the reunion was "branching out and remembering our roots".  Family members brought for display items with the name "Detwiler" on them and included a framed photo of the First Reunion owned by Chris Fetters, a 100th Reunion Photo Mug of Henry and Catherine Detwiler, report cards, sheet music owned by Frances Detwiler Espenship, an August 18, 2003 Daily Republican newspaper article showing the Detwiler Family Time Capsule noting that it would be opened 25 years later. 

8/21/2010 - Fifty five descendents of Henry and Catherine Detwiler held their 114th Annual Reunion at Camp Innabah, Pughtown, PA.  The focus for the reunion was "Vintage Cooking and Baking Utensils".  Updates were made to the website to reflect the happenings of the reunion. 

8/15/2009 - The 113th Annual Renunion was held at Camp Innabah, chester County, PA.

7/20/08 - Original hand written genealogy notebooks and related information have been turned over to The Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area with "restrictions" that the current President and/or Historian will be authorized to remove the information for display at the annual renunion.

7/15/08 - The 2007 Historian's report was added to the web site. The contact information has been updated to include the Renunion President and webmaster. A new section called "Renunion Memories" will be added.

8/29/07 - A Time Line of Events has been added to the "Historical Events" section.

8/28/07 - "The Crest" has been changed to "Coat of Arms", The Reunion Listing has been updated. Historian Records have been added to the 2005 and 2006 Reunion Information Pages. The following sections have been updated; "Contact Us", "Genealogy".   A new section called "Reunion Quilt" has been added.

8/27/07 - "Past Reunion Information" has been updated with information from  the 2007 Reunion.

8/05/07 - New Sections were added for "Family Crest" and "Historical Events".

7/12/07 - A new section called "Newsletter" was added, which now includes a copy of the 2004 through 2009 newsletters.  The "Genealogy" section has been updated.

The Detwiler Reunion was first held on September 30, 1897, for the descendants of Henry & Catherine (Latshaw) Detwiler who were:

  • Jacob (1822-1896), a farmer in Pughtown.
  • Catherine Heistand (1824-1892).
  • Isaac (1826-1907), a farmer in Charlestown township.
  • Elizabeth Funk (1829-1906) of East Vincent township.
  • John (1833-1896), who owned 2 farms in Chester County and 2 farms in Virginia.
  • Mary Funk (1836-1923) of Spring City.
  • Henry (1831-1850).
  • Sarah Jacobs (1838-1901).
  • Abraham (1841-1918), a farmer in East Pikeland Township.
  • Anna (deceased).
  • Susan Jacobs (1844- ? ).
  • David (1846-1913), a farmer in Tredyffren Township.
Henry was a son of Jacob Detwiler, a native of Germany (born March 22, 1763), who came into a large tract of land near Howellville in 1765.  This tract was still known as the "Detwiler Property" in 1904.  Jacob was a farmer, a Whig, and an abolitionist.  He was a trustee of the Mennonite church.  He died in 1850 at the age of 83. His wife, Elizabeth Hunsicker, died in 1862 at the age of 90.  They had 4 children: Jacob, Sallie Kolb, Henry, and Mary Wismer.

Henry was born in 1793, and married Catherine Latshaw, daughter of Jacob Latshaw, who was also born in Germany.  Henry owned 3 farms in Tredyffrin Township, served as a school director, and was a trustee of the Mennonite Church.  He died on August 1, 1873 at the age of 80.

Catherine was born in 1800 and died in 1879 at the age of 79 after bearing 12 children and raising 10 of them.
